The Best Hampshire Wedding Venues

Nicola Streader Photography's favorite wedding venues to shoot at in Hampshire...

As a Hampshire Wedding Photographer I often get asked what my favourite local wedding venues are. Before I carry on,  I just have to say that I have shot at many many different wedding venues across the whole of the South Coast. I could list my very best favourites here easily. But narrowing down the search field is one of the trickiest things to do when choosing a wedding venue. Will it be too far for people to travel? Too far from his family? Too far from yours? Is there accommodation nearby etc etc?
I could also list venues that I haven't yet shot at but that wouldn't be fair! A lot of people book a wedding venue and think about how nice the photos would look. Don't get me wrong, some people don't! As beautiful as candle lit winter wedding is, it can be more complicated to capture! These are just my opinions, when I get an email ping up with a wedding enquiry and one of these venues is the location, I do a little happy dance! Anyway, without further waffle, here are my Best Wedding Venues in Hampshire.

1. Hill Place, Swanmore

A few of my images can be found in The Hill Place gallery, including the main shot of the house.

I love this venue! It actually is a photpgrahers dream. It has such quirky charm and the owners are lovely. Between them and their event management team Smallpiece Catering they genuinely put 100% into you and your wedding because they really do want it to be perfect for you. And no, I'm not being paid to say that!
Your wedding can be held in the Morning Room which has beautiful natural light. Your wedding breakfast can then be held in the bright Dining Room. If your party is that bit bigger there is plenty of room in the ground for a marquee where you can really add your own stamp on the day.
The grounds are simply stunning and make for a beautiful backdrop to your wedding photos. But if it rains all is not lost because it's great inside too. I love the fact it feels like you're getting married in a family members house as you can all stay there too! The house itself can sleep 14 in 6 double bedrooms. And Smallpiece Catering are on hand the next morning to take care of you all. There is also plenty of free parking for your guests.

Reach out to Hill Place.

2. Horsebridge Railway Station, Stockbridge

This is just truly unique. The clue is in the name but it's a disused railway with the prettiest of grounds. The ample space means your marquee will not be squeezed in. Again, the owners are lovely. There are 2 hotels a short cab ride away in Stockbridge for your guests. You can't get married at Horsebridge (yet) so people tend to head to Romsey Town Hall for the legal bit! It's a short drive though and Horsebridge has ample free parking.

Take a look here if you want more info about Horsebridge

3. Tournerbury Woods Estate

Tournerbury is fantastic! So so much land and if you time it right, this includes a bluebell wood!
The main house is great for bridal preparations and only a short stroll (or secret drive) away from the outdoor ceremony area.
Legally registered for wedding ceremonies, the outdoor area is under cover so if it does start to rain, you're sorted. This place also has a marquee for your wedding breakfast and reception. This place is a great for festival themed wedding. You can bring your own caterers who can help tailor your menu to suit your theme.

4. Lainston House, Winchester

If the luxury feel is what you're after then you probably will be impressed with the long winding driveway that leads to the grand house that is Lainston House. Lainston has well manicured lawns and gardens and the prettiest gazebo for a legal outdoor ceremony. In colder/wetter months the barn is just the ticket. It doubles up in the wedding breakfast/party room. The rooms can be very spacious which is great for those brides with a bit of an entourage ;)
Being a hotel there is ample accommodation and parking for your guests.

5. Burley Manor

Burley Manor is in the heart of the New Forest. It's not long been refurbished and they have done a great job. The decor is fresh and modern with a cosy feel which is just what you want when staying in the forest. The rooms are light and bright and spacious which again, is great for bridal prep. The main barn is a great size for weddings and is the ceremony venue as well as the wedding breakfast and party room. The food here was great!
The grounds are lovely and if you're very lucky you can have your wedding portraits with the deer in the background.
Again, its a hotel so lots of rooms and free parking.

6. The Green Man, Winchester

I love this cool pub! The food is great, its decor is very on trend with its eclectic mix of furniture and decor. The dining room has fab natural light which creates interesting shadows and tones. I love it! Downstairs has this industrial style room, this can be used just for drinks or for dining. Each time I have been here I have taken stroll with the Bride and Groom to the streets around Winchester and its just a really cool little back drop.
Weddings aren't licensed at the pub and are not likely to be. But the couples who's weddings I have shot here have literally walked the two minutes from Winchester Registry Office, The Basing Room. It's actually not like most registry offices - it's really in keeping with The Green Man and has a big window for natural light.
Hotel du Vin is a short stroll away for guests and theres an NCP really close by.
If I were to get married again this venue would really suit me and my Husband (yeah, I'd choose him again. Ain't he lucky ;))

Touch base with the Green Man

7. The Dancing Man Brewery, Southampton

Very similar to The Green Man above to be honest, just in my hometown of Southampton. The Dancing Man is more spacious than the Green Man but equally as cool. And food takes some beating I can tell you!
Again, you can't get married here but you can get married at either Southampton Registry Office or Westgate Hall.
The photo back drop is Southampton's Old Walls and the closest hotel is The Pig in the Wall, which is amazing!
Parking is on-street meter charge so may be an idea to tap someone up for a lift. Unless you're staying at the De Vere close by.

Say Hi to the fab at The Dancing Man here.

So there you have it. If any of my friends were considering a wedding in Hampshire these would be my top recommendations!
