A chilly Family Session at the Beach

Oh this session was so dreamy!

But it wasn’t without it’s hitches! Well I say, hitches, what I mean is that the weather, as per usual in this country, gave us the runaround. And even though we both had a bit of a drive (oh very well, 30 minutes!) we decided to just go for it. And right at the last minute we were rewarded with a beautiful sunset!

As a family with young children there is a balancing act when trying for golden hour photos. The summer is of course warmer but sunset isn’t until around 9 or 9:30pm which for most parents, is too late to keep the children up. Wine has usually been opened after a long day by that point! The spring offers a much earlier sunset and so golden hour photos are much easier to achieve but it does usually come at a price and that price is the chill factor!

Lets keep in real. Was it cold on this beach? Absolutely. Did little Bea mind? Not at all, she was throwing herself around, flipping her hair and loving life. A beautiful little wild child! But Woody, who is a bit younger, was pretty chilly. He was wearing several layers and wrapped up in Mum’s chunky cardigan but it just wasn't quite warm enough for him.

Fortunately I’m a fast shooter and just, as always, encouraged the family to play, cuddle and interact with the children whilst I snapped away. And I was pretty impressed with what we achevived in around 30 minutes, even if I do say so myself!

What do you think? Could be be tempted for a spring sunset session at the beach?
