A Winter Wedding at St Giles House, Wimborne
When a fellow photographer (Gemma from Romy Lawrence Photography whom I’ve chatted with for a while on Instagram) asked me if I’d like to help her shoot this beautiful wedding at St Giles House in Wimborne in December I jumped at the chance! One, because it’s always nice to meet photographers who I chat to and also because this venue has been on my ‘bucket list’ of venues to shoot at. It’s so lovely to have a group of photographers to be able to call upon when our couples ask for a second shooter. I always only ever use fellow full time professional photographers. And my group of trusted photographers is getting bigger which can only be a good thing!
So, onto this wedding. I started the day with the boys which is super common for a second shooting role. I always go with the Bride when it’s my own booking and I love shooting bridal prep but shooting the boys made for a nice change. They were at home and as I approached the front door I could hear a bit of a party vibe going on inside! The time went really fast and we headed over to St Giles House. Wow - what a place. I grabbed a quick few portraits of Ben in the bridal suite which is so quirky and cool. I could have spent a lot more time doing that but we needed to get Ben over for his interview with the Registrars.
After the formalities I captured some more shots with Ben and the boys and Sam and Ben’s Son, Chester. They all looked so dapper together.
Whilst Gemma was in place in the ceremony room waiting to capture Sam walking down the aisle, I saw Sam approaching and lifted my camera to document it. There are lots of advantages to be had by having a second shooter!
The weather stayed dry and Gemma to Ben & Sam off for portraits and I went along to capture it from another aspect which was really fun to break away and get shots that are different to those that I would normally get.
The rest of the day was a perfect wintry wedding. The food and drink flowed generously and guests were kept warm inside the beautiful rooms at St Giles. The decor for St Giles is just perfect. Its been sympathetically restored and has just enough of a crumbly feel to keep it’s edge. Can you tell that I love it?
One of the best parts about it for me is the underground club! It’s got it own bar and state of the art light and sound system. The best party to end a beautiful day.
Gemma, thanks for asking me along!
